The Tees Valley

 ESA apartments are located in three favoured centres across the Tees Valley – Yarm, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool Marina. This distinctive and diverse area, labelled ‘the most exciting, beautiful and friendly region in England’ (Lonely Planet) nestles between North Yorkshire and County Durham and borders on the North Sea.  With a population of around 660,000, it is made up of five local authorities – Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland.

Characterised by its industrial heritage, rugged coastline and beaches, inspiring moorland and threaded by the River Tees, here you’ll find yourself in a diverse and exciting place to live, explore and work.

Transport

Excellent links put you within an hour’s drive time of Newcastle, Leeds and York.  The A19 rapidly connects with the A1 (M) and the national motorway network. From Darlington Station, the East Coast Mainline takes you to London in two and a half hours. From Durham Tees Valley Airport, frequent services fly you to Amsterdam and thence to the rest of Europe and the world. Teesport is the third largest port in the UK and amongst the ten biggest in Europe.

Culture and Learning

Attractions vary from mima (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art) to the traditional Head of Steam rail museum at Darlington to the flagship Maritime Experience at Hartlepool.  The Tees Valley has an impressive research and knowledge base in the form of two universities – Queen’s Campus of prestigious Durham University and Teesside University at Middlesbrough with over 25,00 students and a world reputation for digital technology.
